URL to PDF

Enter the address of a web page and download it as a PDF. The page is opened in a real browser and printed with the paper size and margins you choose. No extension, no sign-up.

Printed in a real browser (Chromium) with cookie banners hidden. Usually takes a few seconds; pages that need more than about 12 seconds are stopped. Long pages end after page 30.

Website to PDF in three steps

  1. Enter the URL of the page, for example example.com/blog/post. https:// is added if you leave it out.
  2. Choose the layout: paper size (A4, Letter, Legal or A3), portrait or landscape, margins, and whether to print the page’s print version or the page as shown on screen.
  3. Create the PDF, check the preview and download it.

The page is loaded in Chromium with JavaScript, so content that scripts build is included. Cookie banners are hidden where our blocker recognises them, and ads are blocked if you tick Block ads.

Several pages or one long page

A normal PDF splits the page into sheets of the chosen paper size, as a printer would. With Whole page on one long PDF page, you get the complete page on a single page as wide as the paper and as tall as the content (up to 200 inches). That suits receipts, long articles and pages you want to archive in one piece.

Convert URLs to PDF automatically

The screenshotbase API does the same from your code: one GET request with format=pdf returns the PDF. It adds options the tool leaves out, such as custom margins per side, page ranges, scaling and a filename for the download. See the PDF generator API.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert a URL to PDF?

Paste the address of the page into the field, choose the paper size, orientation and margins, and click Create PDF. The page is opened in a browser on our servers and printed. After a few seconds you can preview the PDF and download it.

Is the PDF stored anywhere?

No. The PDF is sent straight to your browser and kept only in this tab, so download it before you close the page. It is not saved on our servers and there is no link to it that anyone else could open.

Why does the PDF look different from the page in my browser?

By default the page is printed with its print stylesheet, like Save as PDF in a browser, and many sites hide menus and buttons in print. Choose Layout: As shown on screen to print the page as it looks on screen. We also load the page as a new visitor: not logged in and with cookie banners hidden.

Can I convert a page that needs a login?

No. The tool opens public pages only, as a visitor without an account. Addresses on private networks, such as localhost or 192.168.x.x, are refused.

Can I convert HTML to PDF?

Not with this tool, which opens web addresses only. The API takes HTML: send it to POST /v1/take and get the PDF back. See the HTML to PDF API.

How many PDFs can I create for free?

The free tools allow 5 requests an hour and 30 a day per visitor, shared with our other free tools. For more, use the API: the free plan includes 300 requests a month, and each PDF counts as one.
