ERR_WRONG_VERSION_ON_EARLY_DATA

TLS 1.3 early data was offered, but the server responded with TLS 1.2 or earlier. This is an internal error code to account for a backwards-compatibility issue with early data and TLS 1.2. It will be received before any data is returned from the socket. The request should be retried with early data disabled.

Chrome shows it as net::ERR_WRONG_VERSION_ON_EARLY_DATA, error -179. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.

ERR_WRONG_VERSION_ON_EARLY_DATA in the screenshot API

When the page itself fails to load with ERR_WRONG_VERSION_ON_EARLY_DATA, the API answers 502 with the message The target website could not be loaded (ERR_WRONG_VERSION_ON_EARLY_DATA). (target_unreachable). Not billed.

Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
