The scheme of the URL is unknown.
Chrome shows it as net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME, error -302. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.
Common causes
- A link to another app (
mailto:,tel:,whatsapp:,intent:) opened inside an Android WebView. - A typo in the scheme, such as
htps://. - A custom scheme of an app that is not installed.
How to fix ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME
- Check the start of the URL for typos.
- Install the app the link is meant for.
- Android developers: intercept non-http(s) links in
shouldOverrideUrlLoadingand start them with an Intent.

The API renders http and https URLs only; any other URL is refused with 422 before the browser starts: The url field must be a valid URL. in errors.url (or Only http and https URLs are allowed. for a well-formed URL with another scheme, such as ftp://). Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
