ERR_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_SIGNATURE_FAILED

We were unable to sign the CertificateVerify data of an SSL client auth handshake with the client certificate's private key.

Chromium's description

We were unable to sign the CertificateVerify data of an SSL client auth handshake with the client certificate's private key.

Possible causes for this include the user implicitly or explicitly denying access to the private key, the private key may not be valid for signing, the key may be relying on a cached handle which is no longer valid, or the CSP won't allow arbitrary data to be signed.

Chrome shows it as net::ERR_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_SIGNATURE_FAILED, error -141. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.

ERR_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_SIGNATURE_FAILED in the screenshot API

When the page itself fails to load with ERR_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_SIGNATURE_FAILED, the API answers 502 with the message The target website could not be loaded (ERR_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_SIGNATURE_FAILED). (target_unreachable). Not billed.

Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
