Chromium's description
The socket is not connected.
Chrome shows it as net::ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED, error -15. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.
Common causes
- A stale connection pool after the network changed or the computer woke from sleep.
- A broken network stack, VPN or proxy setting.
- DNS problems that leave Chrome with dead sockets.
How to fix ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED
- Flush the socket pools at
chrome://net-internals/#socketsand the DNS cache atchrome://net-internals/#dns. - Restart Chrome and the network connection.
- Switch to a public DNS server such as 1.1.1.1.

ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED in the screenshot API
When the page itself fails to load with ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED, the API answers 502 with the message The target website could not be loaded (ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED). (target_unreachable). Not billed.
Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
