ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
Chromium's description
The host name could not be resolved.
Chrome shows it as net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED, error -105. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.
Common causes
- A typo in the domain name, or a domain that expired or was never registered.
- The domain has no A or AAAA record yet, for example a new site or a DNS change that has not spread.
- Your DNS server (often the router’s or the ISP’s) is down or blocks the name.
- A stale DNS cache on your computer.
How to fix ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
- Check the spelling of the address.
- Flush the DNS cache (Windows:
ipconfig /flushdns, macOS:sudo dscacheutil -flushcache, Chrome:chrome://net-internals/#dns). - Switch to a public DNS server such as 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.
- Site owners: check the domain’s registration and its A/AAAA records with
digornslookup.
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED in the screenshot API
When the page itself fails with ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED, the API answers 400 with the message The hostname of the target website could not be resolved. (target_unresolvable). Not billed.
Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
