ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED
Chromium's description
A connection was closed (corresponding to a TCP FIN).
Chrome shows it as net::ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED, error -100. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.
Common causes
- The server process closed the connection without answering, for example after an error.
- A firewall, proxy or VPN closed the connection.
- Network problems on the way.
- A security service in front of the site refuses the client and closes the connection.
How to fix ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED
- Reload the page.
- Turn off VPN and proxy, and try another network.
- Reset the network settings (Windows:
netsh winsock reset) and restart. - Site owners: check server and proxy logs for errors or idle timeouts at the time.
ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED in the screenshot API
When the page itself fails to load with ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED, the API answers 502 with the message The target website could not be loaded (ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED). (target_unreachable). Not billed.
Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
