ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED
Chromium's description
A connection timed out as a result of not receiving an ACK for data sent. This can include a FIN packet that did not get ACK'd.
Chrome shows it as net::ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED, error -103. puppeteer and Playwright report the same name when a page fails to load in Chromium.
Common causes
- A network that loses packets, an unstable Wi-Fi or mobile connection.
- A firewall, antivirus or VPN that holds back traffic.
- A server that is overloaded and stops answering mid-connection.
- Wrong MTU settings on a VPN or router.
How to fix ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED
- Reload and try another network.
- Turn off VPN, proxy and HTTPS scanning.
- Restart the router and reset the network settings.
- Site owners: check server load and firewall rules that might drop established connections.
ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED in the screenshot API
When the page itself fails to load with ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED, the API answers 502 with the message The target website could not be loaded (ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED). (target_unreachable). Not billed.
Only the page's own load can fail a render. An image, script or frame of the page that fails with a network error does not: the page is captured as the browser shows it without that resource.
